Constantinople Websites & Travel Links

Constantinople was renamed from its former Istanbul by Constantine the Great as the new capital of the Roman Empire in 330 by the Byzantines.  It was the capital of a vast empire for more than 1,000 years until the city finally fell to the Ottomans on 29 May 1453.  They renamed it to its former Istanbul, now the capital of Turkey.
