Billie Holliday

Billie Holiday was born in Baltimore, Maryland and went on to become one of the greatest singers of the jazz era. She started off singing in Harlem nightclubs in 1931, and recorded for the first time in 1933. While Billie had no formal musical training, her records are regarded as masterpieces. While the singer of blues and love songs, Billie became addicted to heroin and alchol in the 1950s and it ultimately claimed her life at the young age of 43.
