Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis

Born in South Hampton, New York, she was the first lady and wife of assasinated President John F. Kennedy and mother of two, including Caroline and the younger John F. Kennedy Jr.  After her husband's assasination Jacqueline moved with her children from Washington, DC to raise them, and then again to a secluded island after she married Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis.  She died quietly in her Manhattan home after a long battle in 1994.
