Laptops Through the Ages
Laptops is the practical computer to travel with, some are even just as powerful today as the desktops that are sold. (It was not always this way, you would often have to wait 6-12months for updated technology/hardware to be incorporated into smaller laptop machines. Laptops have ports for printers, modems, networks, and other such hardware options, and may be the largest of all compact computers, but they are the most functional. We tried the Sony VAIO, and while the design was slim, attractive, and seductive, just like a one night stand, that is all it is good for, you soon realize that it is quite shallow. We recommend a more functional laptop such as Compaq, Dell (our first choice) or any other in which you do not need a port replicator. Remember, the CD-Rom or floppy drive may be separate and may appear slimmer, but you still have to carry it anyway, right? So try to get them both built in and/or swappable ports.
Above all the laptops we have used throughout the years (starting in 1994 with a Keynote), none has been better than the Dell for quality, durability, tech support, customer service and performance.

Sub notebooks
Sometime sub notebooks use Window95/98, and sometimes they use limited versions of this operating system known as Windows CE or its own system. The NEC sub notebook is slightly larger than a VHS video cassette, and travels well (one of our staff even dropped it and cracked the case and it still worked!) This sells in retail markets for $900, slightly more expensive than a palmtop, but a lot less than a laptop. These versions are limited by ports: you will need another attachment to connect to printers, floppy drives and/or CD-Rom drives.
