How To Make Hyperlinks
(HTML Design)
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is one of the growing number of languages used to create websites. There are other languages such as ASP (Automatic Server Programming which only works on Microsoft Servers), Java, CGI, Shock as well as others.
The whole idea of the web today is to link to other people, resources and areas of related material. Getting from one place to another should be as easy as a simple click. This is how.
4 Easy-To-Remember Tips for Hyperlinking
1) Highlight your text, image or icon, and in AOL Press click on the black links icon.
2) A box will appear and say LINK TO PAGE: if it is a website, simply type http:// and then the address of the website (for example make sure the full address is there - http://www.tigerx.com) click ok and you made your first hyperlink!
3) Linking to email addresses: follow steps 1, then when you get to step 2, type mailto:name@wherever.com - now when you click on a hyperlinked email address, the default email program you are using will be prompted and you can start writing your email.
4) IF you are linking within a website of your own, or whichever you are working on, you do not need to include the http:// or the www. -- just simply type the name of the file (example.htm, thispage.htm, page2.htm, etc.htm).For those using NotePad or a raw HTML editor, the tag for linking would be:
<A HREF="http://www.tigerx.com">
Always be sure to test the links you make
by clicking on them and seeing that they go to the right place!
