The Domain Game the game where you try to get an easy to recognize name for your website. All of the 1, 2, and 3-letter domain names have already been taken. Example, a.com; b.com; c.com and ab.com, and abc.com and all letters in any arrangement or sequence has been reserved and/or purchased and developed.
Domain Extentions
.com Commercial domains, those that are from profitable companies and the most common and easily recognizable address, they are also the most coveted because many browsers automaticall search for the .com and pull this address up frist when only the domain name is typed. For example, if you type only tiger it will first see if there is a tigerx.com and if there is, it will come up on your screen. This is a disadvantage for other domains taking .net and .org, etc. addresses as someone searching for a non profit agency for hearing rehabilitation such as www.lhh.org will type just lhh and they will get www.lhh.com -- a commerical organization totally unrelated to hearing rehabilitation.
.net Network of computers, usually an internet service provider. This extension is also used by .com domains who wish to keep the website (www.whatever.com) separate from its email addresses (user@whatever.net). This would then be on a different server and is just to handle email specifically.
.org Organizations generally reserved for non-profit organizations
.edu Educational, College, Public School, Universities and other educational facilities. If you get an email from someone@school.edu, you are generally getting an email from someone who is a student, professor or teacher, or someone that works on the campus or at the school.
.gov Government Branches
