Winter & Holidays Websites

The Europeans were superstitious and believed that witches, ghosts, trolls and other evil spirits were brought by the Winter Solstice, which is the time when the sun is at its lowest point of the year in the sky, making the winter days short and the dark nights long. They had special rituals to welcome back the sun in the Spring. The Scandinavians would have to endure weeks of no sun at all.  When it finally did return, a great feast was held around great bonfires.
