St. Justin
Patron Saint of Lecturers & Philosophers
Feast Day Celebrated on June 1
Born Circa 100 - - - Died 165
St. Justin is said to be the very first Christian philosopher and was born into a Greek family in Palestine. Justin had studied the works of great philosophers and never backed down from a public debate, even at a time when Christians were actively persecuted. In fact, he was arrested and martyred by beheading. Two of his most famous works are: Dialogue with the Jew Typho; and Apologies for the Christian Religion.
