1932 Comedian Groucho Marx performed on radio for the first time.
1942 A fire at the famed Cocoanut Grove night club in Boston, Massachussetts killed nearly 500.
1974 John Lennon appeared in concert for the last time with Elton John at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Lennon had promised John that if their song makes it to the top he would have to sing it with him in concert "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" was that song, and Lennon also sang "I Saw Her Standing There".
