1906  At the International Radio Telegraphic Convention in Berlin, it was voted to use SOS (Morse Code ...--... ) as the letters for the new international signal meaning Save Our Souls, or Save Our Ship.
1917  The formation of the National Hockey League established in Montreal, Canada.
1963  US President Kennedy assasinated in Dallas, Texas, to this day, there is controversy that it was a collective conspiracy of the Mafia, Cubans, and Communist Russians.
1977  Entertainer Tony Orlando came out of retirement after 3 months after being distressed  of the suicide death of his good friend, Freddie Printz, to perform in San Carlos, California.
1980  Actress Mae West dies at age 87 in Hollywood, California.
