1884   The first newspaper chain started by Samuel Sidney McClure of New York City.
1926   NBC started broadcasting 24 radio stations from from the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel in New York City.
1938   NBC's W2XBT-TV  became the first on-the-scene program when they televised a fire on Ward's Island, New York.
1956  The first Elvis Presley film debuted, Love Me Tender was defined as a "rock and roll western.
