1871 A Wisconsin forrest fire destroyed the town of Peshtigo and burned through 6 counties, killing over 1100 people.
1935 Bandleader Ozzie Nelson and singer Harriet Hilliard married. They later had a show on ABC-TV entitled The Adventurs of Ozzie & Harriet.
