1913  The first assembly line is put to use by Henry Ford, who revolutionized automobile manufacturing
1950  The US leads the United Nations into the Korean War.
1985  4 Palestinian terrorists hijack an Italian cruise ship off the coast of Egypt called the Achille Lauro. 440 passengers on board, and they demanded the release of 50 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.  The terroists proceeded to kill Leon Klinghoffer, 69, a disabled American tourist.  They threw his body overboard with his wheelchair.  After 2 days, the terrorists surrendered in exchange for a pledge of safe passage back home to the Middle East.  The Egyptian jet attempted to fly the hijackers to freedom, but US Navy F-14 fighters force the plane to land in Sicily where the terrorists are taken into custody by Italian authorities.
