1967  The premiere of Public Broadcasting System's longest-running children's program, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood"
1992  Late night talk show host Johnny Carson hosted his last "Tonight Show" after three decades spent with Carson and his sidekick, Ed McMahon and bandleader, Doc Severinsen. Comedian, Jay Leno now hosts the show.
