1869  The Transcontinental Railroad completed with the driving of a golden spike during a ceremony at Promontory Point, Utah, meeting of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads.  Some also say there was "gold" spike, just the "last spike".
1927  The Hotel Statler in Boston, Massachusetts became the first to install radio headsets.
1930  The Adler Planetarium opens to the public in Chicago, Illinois.
1986  Navy Lt. Commander Donnie Cochran became the first black pilot to fly with the famous Blue Angels
