1865  President Linclon died at 7:22 a.m. from a gunshot to the head.  He is the first US President to be assasinated
1892  General Electric Company formed by a merger of the Edison Electric Light Company in New York.
1912  The "Unsinkable" Titanic sank off of Newfoundland after hitting an iceberg duing its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City taking the lives of 1,500 of the 2,200 passengers.
1923  Insulin, used for the treatment of diabetes, and extracted from the pancreas of sheep and oxen, became available for general use.
1956  The worlds' first, all-color television station was dedicated Chicago, Illinois asWNBQ-TV.  It is now WMAQ-TV and remains one of the primary NBC television stations.
