1885  Eastman Kodak produced the first commercial moving picture film in Rochester, New York
1942  The first Jews from Nazi concentration camps are transported by train to Auschwitz, Poland to be murdered.
1945  The battle for the Japanese island of Iwo Jima ends, leaving the US victorious.
1979  Israel and Egypt sign a Peace Agreement at the White House, with US President Carter, Egyptian President Anwar el-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
1997  Headed by Applewhite, the San Francisco, California Heaven’s Gate cult members found dead by self-inflicted suicide of poison drink.  The cult members had their own website and thought that aliens from another planet were coming to pick them up via the Hale-Bopp Comet.
