1884  Standard time was adopted throughout the US.
1906  Susan B. Anthony dies in Rochester, New York.
1925  Tennessee laws went into effect prohibiting teaching of evolution.
1933  Banks in the US reopen after the bank "holiday" declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
