1940  Television presented in a sales meeting to convention delegates in New York City.  After staring at a test patter for a while they decided that television had no worth yet.
1951  United Nations Headquarters opens in New York City's Upper East Side.
1986  Kodak loses a nasty court battle to Polaroid for patent violation of the instant cameras.
